I was told this was from a play, possibly Macbeth, but not positive. Have you ever heard it (not as a saying, but as a quote or line from something). If you have, could you describe what it means, and if and how it could be taken positively instead of negatively. Thanks!!!

It sounds like someone just came up with this on one of those "bad days." But it is an overall statement of grief and angry hopelessness that you cannot trust in anything or anyone.

Never heard of it before. Sounds like something E. Scrooge would've said before being visited by a quartet of ghosts one Christmas Eve! I can't imagine putting a positive spin on it. Macbeth WAS a pretty grim Play...-it could've come from there...
