If I eat a dose full of simple carbs and then go exercise, wouldn't the carbs be more easily transferred to energy then if I waited later in the day? So wouldnt the calories indeed be expended at a faster rate? I think im thinking about this question in a more complicated way than it is, but someone give me a detailed explanation none the less.

Maybe not clear enough? I perform two identical exercises. One after eating immediatley the other without a recent meal. Will the calorie expenditure be greater or the same?

In general the metabolism of a human being increases with physical activity and stays up for a long time. It is better to exercise before you eat. Not only will it increase your metabolism it will also reduce your appetite through out the day.

I've also heard that if you exercise first, that whatever you eat after that will burn more quickly because your body is now in high gear from the exercise. Especially a good aerobic workout.

u need carbs before and after a workout ... carbs are the shuttle for the BCAA's and protien to the muscle for protein synthesis to take place. i recommend carbs 30 min prior and 30min after with a whey protien isolate <(that has a lot of BCAA's) and a night time protien for when you sleep which is when your muscles are actually repairing themselves to be exact during the REM (rapid eye movement (dream)) stage of sleep
