Because the news media like the word "COLUMBINE". Its a word that sounds impressive when a new anchor says it with their deep voice. Even when its not columbine they like to say "We don't want another COLUMBINE!".And columbine this and columbine that. They just love to hear themselves say it. Kind of like WATERGATE or Viet Nam!. They like those too.

It's the first shooting that made everyone stop whatever they were doing to hear about it. Columbine along with 9/11 later changed school security completely and the way we think about some kids.

Columbine was the worst school massacre in the US since 1927. In other countries, there have been much worse massacres, mostly, alas, associated with Islamist terrorism.

Several of the victims, who were portrayed as having been killed for their religious beliefs, became a source of inspiration to others, and some lamented the decline of religion in public education and society in general, often blaming the tragedy on insufficient government endorsement of religion. The shooting also resulted in an increased emphasis on school security, and a moral panic aimed at goth culture, heavy metal music, social pariahs, the use of pharmaceutical anti-depressants by teenagers, violent films and violent video games.

maybe its because its the one that people choose to remember. but your right though. there were worst ones than that one. but maybe it was so bad for the people that lived through it that they choose to not remeber it. where as with columbine it happen and those people chose to remeber it.

If there were worse shootings, you should name them as it would give more credibility to your question.
