Once your at C:\Documents and Settings\Myname> Type cd\

And you should be at C:\>

Or create yourname.bat and type the cd\ command in it and save it.

So when ever you come to C:\Documents and Settings\myname> Type yourname You would be in C:\>

Right click on C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe and add the cd\ command to Autoexec.bat file.

This would make sure that you would be in c:\>

Still need further clarifications please get back to me.

I assume your under start RUN CMD then you would immeadiatly type cd\. ie CD backslash period... that then takes you to C:\

booting from dos is only if you:
1 have windows 98 or earlyer
2 format your hardrive and install basic dos off the floppies then install windows threw DoS giving you a dual boot selection after the bios screen
