I just upgraded my computer and the new one has, Windows XP Pro, for an OS. Is the built in fire wall that, comes with the windows program all I need? I have heard that, it isn't very good. Can anyone give advise on this subject, based on their experience with this program?

Windows xp firewall only gives you inbound protection . Some paid firewalls like norton or zone alarm give you outbound protection as well. This type protects you better but I find that they slow down my high speed internet connection. So the answer to your question is if you are running just one computer like me the windows xp firewall is more than sufficiant............

While Windows Firewall isn't good, it's better than nothing.

It gives you some basic protection while you connect to the Net to download security programs.

You can get better firewalls.
