I am a single mother on disability. So obviously the meny is not much. Not i did not work but did make some moeny on some medical research and typing some papers, and doeing some bookeeping. I am able to get 1099 but it really only amounts too about 800 for the year. I wnat to claim the earned incom and the child tax credit

well someone said i might be able to get a small refund is worth declaring the 800 and what do you think the small amount may be it certainy may be alsot to me

If you are eligible for the tax credits, you can and should file a return. It would be in your best interest because you would receive money. From the information in your question, it sounds like you would be eligible.

Tax credits are applied after the tax due/refund has been calculated on the return. Tax credits are a dollar for dollar reduction in the taxes owed or increase in the refund due.

I would recommend the free service: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (link below) http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0...
to help you prepare the return. The volunteers receive training directly from the IRS and will prepare the return for you for FREE! :-) They are very familiar with the tax credits you may be eligible for.

You won't be likely to owe enough to claim the child tax credit, since it can only reduce your taxes to zero and yours is probabably already at zero. But you should be able to claim the EIC. You'll owe a small self-employment tax, but the EIC should be that much and more so you should get a small refund.

Go to the post office and get form 1040A. It allows for both of those deductions.
