Get professional help. It doesn't matter if she's protecting her puppies, aggression towards humans should never be tolerated in a dog. Ask your vet about it, they might be able to recommend a behaviorist in your area that could help.
It's rather a shame that she was bred. Dogs with aggressive tendencies only pass these on to their offspring. Hopefully all her puppies will be spayed or neutered.

There is nothing more dangerous than a mother protecting her young. (In any species).
And pitbulls have very strong mouths. I suggest not letting anyone in the yard, including the other dog, until the puppies are weened and in homes.
I also highly suggest talking to a dog trainer or behaviour special for advice....you are going to need to get near the pups for vet care, ect.(preferably one nearby, who can come see the dog, if necessary).
I'm only suggesting you get some help from a trainer nearby. not cause this is a bad dog, but because pits are strong dogs, and they can easily kill.
I'd hate to see a happy situation turn tragic.

Can you get into the backyard? Put her inside your house and give her a room for herself and the puppies so you don't have to bother her and she doesn't bite some neighborhood kid whose parents try to sue you. It also depends on whether she is aggressive towards strangers or you also. If she's aggressive toward everyone, you need to get some help getting her and the puppies inside and put up a baby gate in a room to give them their own space. Call the humane society or a vet for help if needed. It's cold outside so you should bring them in anyway. If you really can't get her inside, put up lots of big signs warning people she is aggressive until you get some help.

A dog should be trained on how to eat, walk with you, not to bark, potty training and sleep on its place etc. You can teach anything to your puppy, dogs get trained easily with some good instructions. If you want some good training tips visit https://tr.im/05juU
If properly trained, they should also understand whistle and gesture equivalents for all the relevant commands, e.g. short whistle or finger raised sit, long whistle or flat hand lay down, and so on.
It's important that they also get gestures and whistles as voice may not be sufficient over long distances and under certain circumstances.

You need to correct this behavior. You also, need to respect her privacy and not have other people in the backyard with her puppies. She is trying to protect her litter.
It sounds like you have not socialized her with people. You should not be inviting people onto her turf when there are puppies around.
I would suggest that you contact a pitbull rescue group and explain to them what is going on. They deal with pitbulls and may offer some suggestions for you.

Well I don't remember what my mother did when this happened with our former dog which was a Chow. I suggest you do something fast because our Chow would eat or bury her puppies(she had 16 in a period of 3 days, and only 3 survived).

Does she let you in? If yes, then tell everyone else to back off. As long as she is protecting her puppies, I wouldn't chance anybody getting bit.
If not , then I would try to gain her trust by giving her treats and not going anywhere near the puppies.

all dogs are protective of their pups. are you keeping her and the pups outside? move the family in doors until the pups are older. or if you have a nice clean garage and you don't mind parking else where put them in there. if its you she won't let come out back then respect that she is protecting her babies nothing personal. because of your lack of details its really hard to answer this question .

All mother dogs are protective of their pups. She thinks that someone is going to try to take their puppies and sometimes when a puppy gets a human smell on them the mother will try to kill it. But just move them inside and you shouldn't have any problems at all.
