OK.....here is the deal. Give yourself a year to accomplish this goal. That will require patience, but that is also realistic. 10 lbs a month for a year. This is a normal, safe goal. A diet is good...especially with diabetes, but this is only half the battle. Can you exercise? You lose weight by burning more calories than you consume. Cutting down calories help, but you also need to increase the burning(exercise) to really see results. Check with you doctor to see what exercise is right for you. Simple walking to start is great, but with your blood clot disorder I would get medical clearance first.Any little effort will help. Even playing with that beautiful baby girl is exercise. You can do this. You are worth the effort.

I am assuming you have talked to your doctor about this. I don't think a 'diet' is your answer. A lifestyle change in eating habits would seem more appropriate here. Although I would agree you need to lose some weight, set small goals (maybe 10 pounds at a time) and when you reach them, set another small goal. Treat yourself (just not with food) when you reach a goal. It is so much more satisfying to get a lot of small victories than one victory that always seems just out of reach. It is also more motivating. But losing weight needs to be done in a healthy way. Since you have blood clots, you need to be monitored carefully and have an exercise plan that does not make that problem worse. Type 2 Diabeties will be with you for the rest of your life, so you need to get into a lifetime routine of eating proper foods. Your doctor, who knows your history best, will also be the best person to advise you with these changes and can also recommend other people that can help.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Do not buy anything sweet. Cut out the cookies, pop, sugar, etc. Eat your food on a small plate, and don't go back for seconds unless it is a vegetable. Keep raw vegetables around for snacks when you are wanting to munch....Eat well balanced diet from all the food groups.

I wouldn't recommend a diet for your diabetic condition, drastic changes in food could = drastic changes in blood sugars

What I do recommend is exercise. Lots.
