Try focusing on keeping your toes pointed up, your foot flexed upwards when you lie in bed. When you point your toes downward your muscles are positioned in an unusual way...and they may cramp. So, point the toes up, your whole foot up. I used to get leg cramps at night and someone gave me this suggestion. Haven't had cramps since. Hope it works for you.

You need vitamins. Take apple cider vinegar and water in an 8 oz. glass. Approximately 2 tbls. Take this 2 times a day. ACV has 93 vitamins and minerals. Read about ACV on the web, if you do not believe me. I had the same problems for years. No amount of stretching would cure it until I started takintg ACV.

Blood clots are normaly located in the back of your calf. Being that you never have pain in your left leg and its bigger than a softball thats very serious. If its not a blood clot in left leg I would talk to your doctor about new treatment for people who have restless legs. They have new meds helping people with cramping, tingles sharp pains. I would speak to him about it.

Leg cramps are caused by a low supply of potassium. You need to eat bananas or drink orange juice with extra potassium in it.

I always have leg cramps too. Sometimes it feels better if you just massage them before you go to bed at night.

You should still go see your doctor though if it's happening that much. Could be a result of something more serious...like DVT. Deep Vein Thrombosis.
