No. Married couples get some tax breaks but merely getting married isn't guaranteed to get you a larger refund or even any refund at all. In fact, it's entirely possible for a couple to get married and pay higher taxes than if they had remained single. They can also lose thousands of dollars in Earned Income Tax Credits by getting married.

That depends. If you are the only person working and your spouse does not work, then you will have a lower tax liability using the joint rates and deductions/exemptions than if you filed single. If you are both working, you may end up paying more tax.
