I would pay a talented student no more than $200 - assuming it was on canvas and not on the wall.

Not likely, because odds are against me finding extra money to spend on something like that. But if I did win the lottery or something, I think it would be a wonderful idea. But I'd be very picky and would have to look at several of the artists finished pieces first, and see a design sketch, and a color pallete and everything. For what I would want, I think I would have to pay somewhere upwards of $500 for.

But right now? No. We bought at $20 pack of wall stickers in a Noah's Ark theme and have those up, over top of our $20 paint from Home Depot. =)

Well considering there are materials (which can cost as much as $250.00) and then the time that goes into the painting, I would probably pay $2000.00 but that is only cuz I am poor right now. I would pay more in other situations. I mean it is art, beauty! And your child! Why would you spend more on a computer than a painting of your child?
