you ask this question as if one answer would make the other untrue. i'd say both. there are bigger melting pots, or atleast equal, like l.a....probably not in another country though, but maybe, i really don't know honestly. but as far as largest city, considering ellis island and all that, plus it's economic significance, i think we'd have to give it that...or atleast tie it with tokyo.
