I went to get my hair done today i didn't tip at all...i mean they had me waiting in several different chairs like musical chairs...with a different person who shampoos colors cuts and pulling my hair with the brush and the water was too hot when she was rinsing my hair mind u the hairdresser said she didn't believe in gay marriage and was against abortion and she said she loved Bush and thought the Iraqi's loved the soldiers (sure what a joke that is)....i felt like i was thrown around the salon mind you she left the toner in too long so now i don't have highlights i have a "hue of hightlights" to my hair so 125.00 dollars later for that type of service..do you see any reason why i should have tipped? Cause the chick gave me a dirty look...i think that might be the last time i go there..what do you think?

The concept of tipping someone is for service beyond the "call of duty." It is a sad indication of how our society has become when people expect to be tipped on a routine basis. Perhaps we need more people such as you to start a movement that would "turn the tide" in this tipping misconception. In this manner, those who provide services will do so because it is their responsibility and that if they exceed the expectations, then they shall be tipped.
Bravo to you. Don't feel bad. They should have apologized to you instead.

I don't think that their opinion on the war should have anything to do with it. They have the right to their own opinions, and they can choose to voice it if they want. Other than that, it sounds like you really didn't get very good service. If I were in the same situation, especially if my hair didn't turn out the way that it should have, and it cost so much, then no, I wouldn't have tipped them either. I wouldn't go back either.

This might be a little over analyzing... but if I feel guilty about something, even if it's slight... there's usually a reason for it. People make their own morals. Yours will be different from mine, or anyone else's here. And posing this question tells me you're still thinking about it and that you may be feeling guilty about not leaving something. Which means, yes, you should have left something, even if it's bare minimum.
Personally, I'd leave something but then write a complaint or let her know that the service was below quality. I know it's harder to confront the person right there, but in the end, it'll bring you more satisfaction.

I believe in giving a tipping when service is good. So, I think you did the right thing. I would not go back to that hairdresser.

You are in the right... and it seems like you know your **** about hair... Maybe you should be in that profession.
Anyways, no I wouldn't feel bad at all. After all in a place where you spend your money it is ALL about the service.. and hers was not acceptable.

I think that you need to contact the manager and explain to him/her that when you come in to get your hair done, you aren't paying the person for their political views and you don't appreciate some one else's views being thrust upon you like that. It was rude and very inconsiderate for the person to do that and highly unprofessional.

She did a bad job so,...no.
It also isn't good business and really just dumb to talk politics with a customer especially if you don't know where they stand.
And no, don't go back and don't feel guilty, not even a little.

i wouldn't have tipped her either (especially for how much the visit cost you total and the service you received), but i don't see what that has to do with her political beliefs, mind you.

You are under no obligation to tip. If the service was bad you shouldn't feel bad about it. I wouldn't go back.
