I have had a few jobs where you hear nothing but swearing or even worse the boss seems to go off on a semi rage and start smashing things, even near people that dont even know what is being thrown at them for or why.
Its scarey and horrable.. the best thing was to leave.. I jumped jobs as soon as possible.
But i have had some bad bosses and some great! bosses.
Its just making sure you can handle the enviroment .
Hence the normal trial period most go though.

where i work (at a grocery store/pharmacy) we use vulgar language but not in front of customers or out in the store area. Just in back and in the break room area. Its not a lot or anything, nothing like you. We try to watch our language as much as we can.
I don't think its normal...i think at any work place that they should try to watch what they say, some new workers might not be used to it like everyone else is. And there are better ways to talk than to use profanity in every sentance.

Office workers are more likely to report people or complain about bad language, also, communication is a major part of white collar work, so there is a tendency to clean up the language in order to do business, particularly with clients.

Nope, at least not in my Catholic school! I did work at a group home though where the guys would try to slip the phrase Mother "trucker" (but not trucker) into sentences, and watch the kids faces when they would say "what did you say"! Then they would cover with "I said I love suckers" etc. The person who said it the most in a day won. Absurd!! You will not it in most places. Good luck on the job upgrade!

I work in the medical field and that type of thing is VERY strictly enforced and quickly acted on where there IS a complaint.
It depends on the type of business. I would expect to hear more profanity on a construction jobsite than I would in a brokerage firm.

I dont work, but my husband works underground and the language is really bad. Its the norm for down there I guess. Is mostly men, but there are some women too, and they speak just like the men, if not worse, (from what my hubby says.) He tries to bring it home with him, and Im always telling him to clean it up!*

It happens the place I work at but we don't use it to customers as that would put your job in jeopardy. I think profanity is used anywhere anytime but the v worst times u use profanity is to your boss or other coworkers and customers face to face, over the phone etc. If you want to use profanity us if to yourself. In other words don't say it loud for others to hear but say it to yourself. Understand?

No. I work in a doctor's office and there's an occasional patient that uses "colorful language" but not that often. Good luck in your job search!

Yes, I hear quite an amount where I work.I don't pay any attention
but I can tell that there are those who enjoy the attention by swearing so much.
