he should fake an illness to get out. Well, he and his girlfriend broke up a few weeks ago and he seemed depressed. She contacted us today and said he tried to kill his self and is in the hospital. They found cocaine and ecstacy in his blood and I'm thinking he did this deliberately to get discharged from the army. When he and his sister were younger, they had to live with us due to their Mom being incarcerated. I told my husband at that time his son needed counseling . But the son said he was ok, but I knew better. So all this time he has been having issues that finally came out. What should my husband and I do to show him were here for him? He is in New York and were in SC.

He may have done it deliberately or he may have been desperate. Either way, he needs help. He needs your love and support. So get him the help, and show him you love him and accept him whether he's in the army or not.

Well to begin with I don't believe the drugs were something he just did for that one time. They are probably part of the problem. I have a son that is into these things. He has been for sometime. They have caused depression along with other problems. He always threatens to kill himself. I live day to day praying and hoping that never happens.

Your question is what can you do. NOTHING. Just be there someway for him. You don't have to be right where he is. Send him a letter and let him know you all love and miss him and can't wait till he can come home.

What you can't do is get on him about the drugs. It will push him away. Accept him as is and hope and pray for better days.

For now you could send him a nice valentine. Send pix you know he would love looking at, even old childhood photos. Send him a care package tastefully assembled.. Send him a non parishable snack packages.....

Mostly let him know you love him.......

U need to get him psychiatric help. there seems to be an inner turmoil that he needs to work through before it catches up to him, confusing him &then depressing him.

He will need both your support, &i believe he has it. Good Luck.
