I'm a sophomore in highschool, and there's a freshman girl I saw who I want to get to know. I haven't really talked but sometimes make eye contact in the hallways. How should I approach her for the first time?

I have NO classes with her, and i only see her in between some classes.

Sicne it's just between a few classes, I can't really go up to her because she's with all her friends and we don't get much time to switch classes.

I wanna go up to her, but I can almost never find her during any of the breaks or in the morning or after school.

If I did find her in the morning or after school, would going up to her for the first time in fornt of her friends be better or worse?

or what if I went up to her in front of her friends then asked to talk to her privatley or something?

When she's alone. It's at school so she won't feel threatened. I wouldn't want a guy deciding to come up to me for the first time in some dark parking lot... unless he was asking me if he could walk me to my car to make sure I'm OK and apporached me in a lit area.

Go up to her alone. You don't know if she's in a deep juicy conversation with her friends. Maybe you should try to talk to her during breaks.
