You cannot have the answers if you do not ask the questions.
Doubt leads to discovery, which is a good thing. Belief without a foundation in answers you have pursued means nothing.

You sound like me ten years ago. I quit the Christian church I grew up in because of the hypocrites, lies, and deception I saw in the MEMBERS of the church. I kept the moral lessons and commandments eventhough I wasn't a "believer". I learned about other religions, and became a solitary Wiccan. Recently, my eleven year old son has started to ask questions about God, etc. and so I decided to find a church suitable to teach him. I found this in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. All of the doubts and confusion of traditional Christianity have been cleared up by answers that made sense, not just "Believe it, or else!" And because you are held accountable for everything you do, hypocrisy is eliminated. This is a church of good people that will do anything to help someone through a rough time.
My suggestion is to take a break and educate yourself. Research several religions. Find someone to talk to that belong to religions that "ring true" for you and ask many, many questions. When you get the answers, meditate and pray about it. Listen to your inner voice; it will tell you which direction to go.
Above all else; DON'T FEEL BAD ABOUT BEING HONEST WITH YOURSELF!! Don't force yourself to stay in a church you don't feel comfortable with. Keep looking and the Lord will guide your way. Blessings

Embrase your doubt. It's probably nothing more then you forming your own opinions and thoughts and, god help us, beliefs. Listen, if you were always a Christian then you probably knew of nothing else. There are about 400 religions out their, which demonstrates the world wide diversity anyway. Believe me you will be doing yourself a huge favor if you can explore the world in a practical way outside any type of religion. If you can explore the world outside of religion, and still reach the same conclusion about Christianity then at least you will know it's a true belief and not just something you've been fed all of your life, without your own opinion.

or you are coming into the light.
Just remember that a religion is someones interpretation of what is right and what is wrong, and want you to follow their rules to be enlightened. etc.
For every Christian that says "the sun came up today, that is God's work", then where is there also a Muslim that says "no, that is Allah" or a Hindu that says..".."...etc...
because there is more then 1 answer, there is no right answer, read about what the other guys (other religions) have to say, then decide if you are losing YOUR religion, or just looking for something that makes better sense then what you've been raised with.
Remember, one size does not fit all, thus why there are sooo many religions out there to begin with..

I went through the same thing. Don't look at it as losing your religion, but rather as gaining common sense. If there was a god he would not let so much unnecessary suffering happen on this earth. Religion tries hard to blind you of everything you see around you, just because everyone fears the unknown. Don't worry. If there is a god, he cannot punish you for thinking with the mind he gave you. If you believe in god but doubt him, it is because he gave you that power to reason and doubt. It's not your fault. (I still think there is no such thing though.)

What I suggest and what worked for me is asking questions about what you're doubting and researching religions, not just the Christian religion but many different ones. It could be that you find the answers you're looking for in another religion. I was raised Lutheran and couldn't find the answers there but found them in Wicca. I run a study group were I help people in Spritual Crisis if you are interesting e-mail me at isadorara@yahoo.com

In times of doubt, I have watched everything I believe seem to unravel all the way back to the resurection. And that's where I believe we have "the measure of faith". Its that little gift of faith that you don't have to work up. When I get to the resurrection, there's a still small voice in me that I know it happened. And I don't have to try to believe; I just do. Once I realize that the resurrection really did happen, all my other doubts seem foolish becuase if that's true, I'm sure the rest of it is... Faith comes by hearing the word. Maybe its time to go back to Chruch.

Read The God Delusion, understand what makes religion works and how it controlled you so far, and be forever free of it. I wish you good luck; it's a shame I can't email you. You may have to buy the book - christians have been known to repeatedly borrow it from libraries and "lose" it.

Be honest with God about this. Pray to Him and tell Him of your doubts. He won't be offended. Ask Him to help you find the faith to truly believe( If that is what you really want). Ask Him to help you find the answers to the things you don't understand and the questions you have. He wants a true relationship with you and He won't let you go. God will reveal His truth to you in a very special, personal, way. I believe that.
