You're on the right track, take him to the vet -- make it as early as you can, first thing in the morning if possible. It sounds a lot like kennel cough, which is very treatable -- think "doggy flu." Then remember how badly the flu dragged you down last time you had it, extra incentive not to skip meds and pamper him! AND remember that the vast majority of humans get over the flu just fine, but a few don't, especially the very old, the very young, and those weakened by some other condition. Don't brush it off as "just the flu" -- but don't panic either. :)
The sooner he gets help the better for both of you (you're not sleeping to well tonight for worrying about him, are you!). If the vet does not tell you don't forget to ask -- how soon should you see improvement, how long until he SHOULD be "all better." He doesn't meet that timetable, you take him back and ask the vet why. Good policy for any doctor visits actually!
P.S. in edit -- This does NOT sound like Parvo (which is also treatable, though very nervewracking). Parvo symptoms are diarrhea, vomiting, and dehydration -- have your vet walk you through a simple pet exam, where he or she shows you how to check for dehydration and how to look at the gums. Straight up kennel cough is more than enough to worry about right now!

Sounds like the puppy was injured or stepped on and has a ruptured organ, perhaps an injured gallbladder. This is serious and you need to look into the matter as soon as possible with the vet. Surgery might have to be done if there is a ruptured organ.
Keep him still and bring water to him to drink, do not pick him or her up this will make the injury worse. Put an old blanket down where the puppy can excrement on because I doubt it very much if it will be walking.
Good luck with the Vet and talk him into a discount due to the dog being a puppy.

Most likely, it's just a case of "kennel cough". A lot of dogs from the pound wind up with that. It's easy for them to catch things from other dogs in that kind of an environment. It's easily treated with antibiotics.
It may be something more serious, but your vet will be able to tell for sure.
Good luck, and hope your puppy is feeling better in no time!

Don't be surprised if the vet tells you that the little one needs antibiotics for a sinus or respiratory infection. This can also happen with canine flu (which is a virus) but which can also be accompanied by a bacterial infection that requires antibiotics as well. Only the vet can tell for sure, so it's good you're going tomorrow.

That doesn't sound good at all. I would call your vets office and tell them what is going on. If it is kennel cough or parvovirus, you need to get your puppy in quickly. Hopefully, your new puppy will get better quickly!

Pound dogs. My sister got one and it died a week later. Those poor animals are all sick. Green is infection and will need antibiotic. If you have other animals or small children keep them away till you see the vet. Good luck .
