I refuse to answer it anymore. My wife is not a waif nor is she a hog. For someone who is pretty damn confident about everything else in her life, the repetitive nature of this question makes me cringe. If it is for constant approval, I say that is BS. If it because of insecurities, go see a therapist. If it is bc she read People magazine and watches the Hollywood crap, I say, those people pay millions to look like that.
Why can't women just accept themselves and the ones whom they live with to tell them that they are just fine?

Yes. A better received question is simply "how do I look?" Asking if one looks fat already has a particular angle in mind, shading any answer a certain way. If a girl asks this question, it might mean she's trying to trap the guy or is terribly superficial and probably not worth worrying about anyway.

I feel that the answer is yes or no---if you don't want the truth--don't ask. Get to a mirror and look yourself. If you think you might have a few extra pounds--work on it and don't put anyone in an uncomfortable position. And guys--please be honest---just answer and get on with it. If a mate is heavy--you may be too---suggest you both work on it together. people do put on weight--it's nature and that's that. Women shouldn't be buying clothes designed for a different body type...good god--get a grip--you are not 14 years old.

Im not a guy,
but. It pisses me off when my friends ask if they look fat.
Especially since it's almost always people who are 'anorexic' looking or very skinny that ask.
People lack in self-confidence. And it gets annoying, they fish for compliments and most people have figured out that if they put themselves down in front of their friends, then they will compliment them and tell them that they are wrong.
It is completely annoying to anyone.
If you have to ask if you look fat in that dress, then you probably don't.
It's annoying, just leave it at that.

I'm always annoyed by this question because it means that the woman doesn't know what to wear in order to look good. How can you respect a woman who doesn't know how to dress?!

its a loaded question and we hate it.
if we say no, you don't look fat in that. then we are applying you normally look fat but in this outfit it doesn't show.
if we say yes, then we sleep on the couch for sure.
if a man is smart, he'll mumble something and stroll off to the garage for a few hours to hide.
