Certainly. Sumerians, Babylonians, Phoenicians, and Egyptians (just to name a few) all had rich mythologies long before Genesis was written.
If you haven't read the epic of Gilgamesh, it's definitely worth a read. It was first written around 3000BC.

They invented stories about gods who made fire, rain, wind, night, etc. They created songs, dances, and sacrifices to appease those same gods and gain favor.
In the grand scheme of things (sociologically), the bible isn't that old. Society and civilation had existed for some time before the bible was commisioned to be written. It's not that far-fetched to believe that yes, early society was creative enough to make up stories like that.

They were definately that creative, I'd say more so than people are now, they didn't have all the tasks and appointments and useless mind-dumbing television available back then.
What makes me wonder though is when did they find the time.... between cooking and hunting and trying to survive, all within daylight hours.

Oh my goodess, yes. Mythology written before Geneis includes many of the stories that you find in the Bible. Different names different places, but very much the same. Mythology is full of virgin births, three gods in one (the trinity), creation stories, and floods.

Figured out fire and wheels didn't they? Stories were old time tv... Stories are just in the blood for humans... How boring it would be to sit with your tribesmen and women around a fire each evening and just stare at each other...

Look at other myths from the Middle East at the dawn of civilization, their artwork, their languages, their city planning and agriculture. Yes, I would think so.

Certainly. Just about every culture has a creation myth that goes back thousands of years.

Go to the library and find any work of fiction and you'll see that any book you find is much more complicated than anything found in the genesis, so I wouldn't put it past them

Just because they couldn't make computers or nuclear bombs doesn't mean they were idiots.
