There are many factors to consider when determining the prognosis of a cancer: 1) Tumor size; 2) extent of spread (metastasis); 3) aggressiveness of the tumor; and 4) response to treatment.

Other factors include your father's emotional response to the cancer, his general health, current medications, etc.

It is impossible to say how well your father will fare. Melanoma is an extremely aggressive form of skin cancer, but if caught in time, his prognosis can be quite favorable.

I wish you both the best!

If the melanoma was caught in time, the odds are in his favor. But he should look into treatment to make sure it hasn't spread.

Good luck!
