Ever since I was 10, I had a lot of trouble getting sleep.
I really don't know what the problem. I now sleep around 12:00 'o clock at midnight...
Probably because i think to much about things (Homework, Family Issues, etc.) before going to bed.
What's wrong with me? Has this ever happened to you? What do you if you can't get enough sleep?

Sometimes when people get overwhelmed with their life and daily activities they began to have difficulty sleeping. Sleep disturbance can be caused by many different things and sometimes can lead to a sleeping disorder. Stress, anxiety and depression are only a few of the problems that interfere with your sleep. You should discuss this with your doctor so the problem can be identified and treated properly.

I often have trouble getting the proper amount of sleep, just as you have stated. A good way to remove some of the stress on your body is by taking a shower at night. Why? Good relaxation of the muscles. If you prefer the bath, use lavender soap or bath beads. For those that say they don't like to sleep with wet hair, use a blow dryer.

The method I used when I was a little younger was to meditate for about an hour a day. Meditation, when done correctly, can be vigorous mental exercise, and can wear you out pretty quickly.

You probably have a condition called insomnia. It is fairly common and you should talk to your doctor about it. They will probably prescribe some medicines after a sleep test (if you are positive for insomnia, of course). Almost all sleep aids have some risk of dependancy, though.

I too have had trouble sleeping and I have since I was about 10 like you. Here's how I try.

I make sure my room is totally or almost totally dark. I close my eyes and find a comfortable position. No matter what, I keep my eyes closed.

If you are feeling anxious or nervous, play parts from a movie or think of a song in your head for a little while, perferably something relaxing. I've been told to 'make a happy movie in my head'.

If absolutely nothing will work, talk to your doctor as I said before. Good luck and sweet dreams!

Short term solutions with long term problems - > Take those sleeping pills.

Short term solutions but not really effective - > All those home remedies eg warm milk, read a really boring book

Long term solution - > Exercise during the day, get yourself dead tired, or get professional help.

Your problem is not environmental or anything external. It's all in your head. You can OD on slipping pills but your sleep will not be a quality one as you are still thinking in your dreams. You will wake up even more tired than before you go to bed. Get help if you are consistently worrying about your life. That's long term effective solution.

Insomnia is incredibly common. Why do you think they have so many sleeping pills ads on TV late at night?

The thing that helped me most is a book called No More Sleepless Nights. Available on Amazon. Lots of good advice from a doctor that specializes in sleep disorders, including insomnia. It helped me a lot, especially the advice about giving up caffeine and getting into a regular sleep schedule.

I have had this problem for most of my life! I actually ended up doing a research project on it (i study psych). Some good tips are - use your bedroom only for sleep - no studying or watching tv, especially on or in your bed. If you cant sleep, stop worrying about what time it is and get up, leave your bedroom, keep yourself occupied until sleep is imminent then get back into bed. Lavender on the pillow is helpful, and also try not to let yourself sleep in to often.
These all help me!

yeah when i was young it was hard to go to sleep. Try going for a walk or exercise a short while before going to bed. Read a book (not homework) but something else that interests you. Lay off any sweets or food like 3 hrs before you go to bed. And clear your mind, relax , maybe listen to some soft music as you go to sleep. Forget about the day and rest. you can worry about it tomorrow. OK. nighty night

Ok, I have this problem too and I have found two things that help. You can try Benadryl or a natural hormone called Melatonin. They both work great. Good Luck!

I just close my eyes and dream and snore and stuff, but I'm willing to make improvements. How can I sleep the nasty way?
