Go to the ER if it hurts really bad. It could be anything. Depends somewhat on your age for the seriousness. Well, I can tell you that Pleurisy hurts really bad. That is what I have and have had. It made me go to the ER a few weeks ago. Pleurisy hurts when you breathe, move, cough....it's a really sharp stabbing pain and it feels like your ribs are broken. Or you could be having pain with your gallbladder. That would be on the right side. Pleurisy could be on either side. Go on Web MD and look up both. Feel better!

First of all, the dizziness and headache could be caused by you hyperventilating. You probably become anxious about the pain and either start trying to breathe too deeply too often, or breathe too rapidly. When you get the pain, try to relax and find a position where you can breathe more easily.
There could be SO many reasons for your pain. Have you had a bad cold and cough lately? If so, you could have bruised muscles and the cartilage near the ribs. Or you could have a pleural effusion or walking pneumonia. In that case, you need to see a doctor to have a chest x-ray and possibly get antibiotics.
Sometimes pain from other parts of our body radiates to the chest. You could have gall bladder, pancreas or liver pain that is radiating to your chest wall. It could be gas pain from a very distended large bowel that is pressing against your diaphragm, causing you to feel lower rib/chest pain. Try changing positions when you get the pain, turning from side to side to see if it helps. Take anti-gas medication to see if it relieves the discomfort.
Whatever the condition, you should see your doctor to make sure it's nothing serious. Call tomorrow morning or go to an urgent care first thing in the morning if you are still having the pain.

Could be 100 things.
Why not make an appointment to see an Internal Medicine doctor?
I can tell you when I had a similar problem, it was due to ligiments - which heal on their own if you rest/ice/elevate.
Have you been doing any heavy lifting or the like?

My suggestion is for you to speak with your primary physician. This individual should have baseline information about your health as well as noting any changes. Reassurance may be forthcoming based on the evaluation. If you do not have a primary doctor, you should find one. It is not a good idea for an individual to diagnose their own complaints.
Best of luck

Pneumonia? Lung Infection? Go to WebMD.com and punch that in....I"m a nurse and never heard it on only one side, most infections and such are on both side. Sounds similar to pneumonia, but only if on both sides...you better get it checked out! Did you have any trauma...could you have a bruised rib or lung?

Maybe you have pneumonia. Do you have a fever too. You should go to a doctor or ER anyways and get an x-ray, especially if you have shortness of breath.

You might have pneumonia, pleurisy or even a collapsed lung. You need to get checked out sweetie...don't waste any more time on Y/A....you're sick and your parents would want to know how much pain you're in so they can get help for you.

Could you have bruised a rib? That makes it very painful when you breathe.
Otherwise, it could be something very serious. See a doctor.
