Happend to me a lot of times .
So I give an advice to every one :
Learn all the languages of the world ; you could save you self & the life of someone else !!

Why? It happens all the time. Of course people will talk about you right in front of you if you can't understand what they are saying! I used to do that, too. And a lot of people did that to me. It's normal and not necessarily wrong. I live in Taiwan and I cannot speak Chinese or Taiwanese, but I can tell when people talk about me. Sometimes they say bad things, but I don't care, if they don't dare to say it in my language it means that they are afraid of me or just cowards. Either way I am fine.

I speak Catalan and, once, on the T in Boston, some people started talking to each other about me in Catalan. It was very entertaining. When I got off the T, I turned to them and said, "You should be more careful because you never know who speaks your language." The look on their faces was priceless!

Not me, but a co-worker of my mom's went to Korea for his job once. The Koreans around him gossiped and said white people stink and are hairy because they eat so much dairy. Fortunately for him he was fluent in Korean!
