THat's about the best way to get a hernia and/or injure your back.

Absolutely, if you go too heavy or use improper form. You always want to make sure you've warmed up properly, and have the correct form down before getting heavy at all. This is one lift you want to be especially careful about because of the tendency to use the lower back and midsection during the lift.

That said, deadlifts is one of the best power and strength exercises you can do, and it's considered a core lift that utilizes multiple muscle groups. Just use good form with controlled movement to maximize the lift. I've seen too many people tempt fate by going too heavy too fast.

Yes both are possible.

Even top professional athletes have had pec and bicep tears from either not warming up the muscle trained properly or using a weight that is to heavy.

Deadlifts are an advanced exercise that should be done with perfect form and weights that one can control properly.

It doesn't take much to cause injury and as for hernia's...same thing.

Work with a fitness professional to get advice on how to perform this exercise with correct form...another option is working with a fitness professional with online fitness coaching. ;)

Absolutely. But more likely than hernia would be a rectal prolapse. Take it easy & do more structured, isolated exercises.
