There's a guy I really like a lot. There are mixed signals coming from him. I am not sure if they are mixed signals or just my own wistful interpretation of the things he do. I want to give up on him because I don't think we will ever be together and I don't think destiny is on my side anymore. I want to believe more strongly that God has someone else for me and it is part of his plan that we aren't together. I just want to stop thinking about him and sleep soundly through the night without waking up at 5am thinking about him. I prayed very very hard for him for a few months already but I think ultimately it came to nothing and God just does not want us to be together. The more I pray, the more hopeful I become. And this is bad because I want to forget about him now and all this hope built up in me is bad. I still dream that I still have a chance but I guess not. I want to trust God's plans fo rme more. Valentines' is coming up and it makes me feel worse. Advice please? what do I do?

First off ;I would have to say if your prayers don't do anything possitive for you and this guy then forget it. And if God feels you two are to be together it will happen in His time not yours or the guy you want. If however God has other ideas on the matter you are looking at serious problems if you persue this.

God opens doors in our lives, even to things like relationships. If doors don't seem to be opening then move on.

Ask God to remove these troublesome thoughts of this guy from your mind and heart and fill the space that is left with God's thoughts....

Ask God to cast all doubts of Him far from you and increase your faith and trust in Him. Then accept the fact He has already done it. Now you have to go from then on and focus on other things when thoughts of this guy comes up. In fact throw up a short prayer right away about it. Don't get caught up in the thought at all.

I really don't think that Yahoo answers is the place to get a good answer to this sort of question. Have you tried talking to people you are close to about this situation? Perhaps get someone else to pray for you, that you would be able to sleep well and that the best outcome would come out for you and this guy (what ever that is).

Ideally you could find someone who knows the guy quite well and could tell you if he is interested or not. When your heart gets involved in something like this it is very hard to make 'uncoloured' decisions. Wistful thinking and missinterpretation slip in very easily. Try to find someone who know you well and you can trust to help you think straight.

Sometimes it is worth talking to the person concerned directly. If you do that make sure you understate your feelings, otherwise you might scare him away! Perhaps, Say that you feel like you are getting mixed signals from him and are wondering how he is feeling about the situation. That way you can let him talk rather than having to talk yourself.

People always like being listened to :)

As to whether Prayer works? Don't look at the short term, think about whether your prayer was answered in 10 years time. By then it will either be forgotten about (Eg. you will no longer feel that this situation was significant in your life) or you will have a sense of what the answer was, even if it isn't that clear now.

Often, after we try hard at something to no avail, we start to come to our senses ... The only one capable of changing an individual is themself. God does not force or manipulate anyone. It would not serve his purposes if he did, as true love must be completely voluntary.

God did not invent Valentines Day; Hallmark did. Don't let a commercial opportunity for card and candy sales make you feel like you're not where you should be. One of the most attractive things you can do is find your purpose and begin to accomplish it. If you are productive and independant, men will find that attractive. And I'm not just talking about being busy for busy sake. Find what you love to do and go at it with all your heart. Be who you are where you are now and find a way to love it. You will attract followers...

i was in the same situation your in at one time. there was a guy i really liked and i hoped and prayed that we would be together because i liked him so much. i prayed and prayed, but in the end God said no and it didn't work out. and thank God it didn't because i would be miserable if i had stayed with him! now i am married and things are working out so just because we really want something at one time doesn't mean we should get it. God sees the future and he knows what will happen if he lets us have things we shouldn't. so hang in there and keep praying, because you never know if the Lord has someone so much better for you!!

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old is gone, the new is come. This is what the New Testament states about being a Christian. The sin nature must be done away with - the flesh cannot do this except by the Spirit of God. That is why salvation comes from God alone. Being a Christian and being saved (according to biblical principle), is one and the same. Please also bear in mind that to be a Christian means being transferred from the works of darkness to works of righteousness, the difference being loving sin or hating sin because God hates sin. Baptism is a sign that you are committing yourself to Christ - symbolizing you are dead to sin but alive to God's word.

You aren't going to find any help from the supernatural, so you will have to use your own intelligence. In this case, I suggest that you talk to him to find out what interest he may have. You could get lucky.
