well before starting to toilet train, a child needs to be aware he is urinating or defecating. When the child can let u know he has done something, takes interest in the toilet and doesnt seem to like his nappy anymore are signs of getting there. 15months is usually when a child's body learns to recognise the need to pee before just letting it go.
how to toilet train. Well after having a drink, wait about 10 minutes then make a game of jsut sitting on the potty with no pants on. Use it as a chair or something while he plays with playdouh or something. Its always good to have a potty with a pee guard for boys so pee doesnt go everywhere. Once something is done, GO NUTS, over exaggerate how greatit is that he did it in the potty. Do this once a day, then a few times a day n pregress when u feel it is right. Summer is the most comfortable time to start potty training due to not having cold legs when sitting on the potty
or if u want ur boy to stand, add a little bit of water to the potty and drop in a table tennis ball and make a game of trying to hit the ball
my boy is 2.5 and he was completely out of nappies bar bedtime at the age of 19 months.

That is really, really young to start potty training. I've heard it said that if you potty train that early, it's the parents getting trained, not the child. But if you feel like you need to start potty training, start taking him to the bathroom with you. (It would be great if his father were around to do this, but I don't know if he is or not, so this is just my advice). Take him to the bathroom every 30 minutes to an hour and let him sit on the potty for a while. If he pees or poops in the potty, make a big deal about it!! But honestly, I would not get my hopes up. Most children are doing good to be potty trained at 2 (believe me, I know- I'm trying to potty train my 2 year old and it is not going well!!!) It'll happen when he's ready. It may be now- it may be when he's 3. Each child is different.

Two years old is the very earliest with a boy. My son's doctor says wait until they meet the following:
1) They can say the word poop or potty
2) They can go 3 to 4 hours without a wet diaper
3) They understand cause and effect example your child knows the DVD goes in the DVD player
It sounds like it is probally way to soon.

Well, I have an 18 month old daughter and she has taken to potty training very well, but I hear it's harder for boys. The bottom line is, he won't do it until he is ready. My pediatrician told me that if the child is taking off thier diapers, can wake up dry or can verbally let you know when they have to go, they are ready to learn. Good Luck.

i am mother to 5 four of them boys , you are so right for starting now, it's later then i started, but GREAT, put a potty in the bathroom, and have him sit on it a few minutes every couple of hours, and praise him when he does, do not force it, it takes dedication , by 18 months my boys had underwear on, one step at a time, if you go to your local library they will have VHS on early training it is very helpful, i also got a book about early training there are lots of techniques, parents wait to long now a days, that's what makes it harder, pull ups are making way to much money on a product that is not necessary

I know people who had their kids potty trained before the age of 2 and even before the age of 1, each child develops differently but you can try it.

My son was 3-and-a-half when he finally got the hang of it. I tried from the age of two to get him potty-trained but he just wanted his diapers. Finally, I just took them away from him.
A friend of mine got her 18 month old son to use the toilet in one day. She spent eight straight hours in the bathroom with him and he learned that way. I think his case is unusual.
