Maturity is found within the person, and not their occupation. Just because they carry weapons, it doesn't mean that they are more mature. In fact, because they go through a lot, they tend to "party hard" which can get overboard fast.
Matters of the proverbial heart is a different kind of maturity/responsibility.

Not necessarily. People mature at different speeds, different times, some faster than others. I don't think the military has anything to do with it.

I think they just have a life experience that other men their age have not experienced. They have a greater sense of their own mortality and this would make them appreciate life and relationships more than the average. I also think they have a sense of duty and obligation that is instilled in them, which could make them better partners. So yes, I think that it would help mature them a little sooner than others.

I don't know if discipline the military gives lends itself to affairs of the heart. The divorce rate, due to deployment time, is higher than the civilian population. But that could be the fault of the spouse.
