You should stop at least every two hours and walk around, stretch, have something to drink, use the restroom, relax a bit and close your eyes for five minutes or so. You'll be a safer driver and perhaps even reduce the discomfort in your back. I have severe back problems and I use a lumbar pillow or heat/massage unit that plugs into the cigarette lighter outlet.

Full info. read The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies. Muscles with knots (trigger points) are tight causing the pain the book teaches you how to help yourself. Use a massage therapist to get you started.
Molasses (a couple of swigs) and bananas (one or two) are good muscle relaxers - their side effect if you take too many is the runs.

Cruise control, frequent breaks, empty anything out of back pockets, get a special driving pillow that has a cut out for your tailbone.
It never gets any easier.
