Besides being allergic(?) to it, my doctor couldn't give me much more information about having strange reactions to alcohol. I don't turn red, and I rarely feel the need to vomit. I do, however, get pretty buzzed after 2-3 drinks and tend to forget things. (And no, it's not a tolerance issue; I've tried to up it in my early college days and that plan failed miserably).

The forgetfulness is actually problematic sometimes since it is difficult to recall event details or conversations depending on how much I drink. Which, in the past has led to extremely awkward situations. Because of this, I drink sparingly.

But besides not drinking, is there anyway to mitigate this strange side effect of memory loss? Does anyone else have this problem?

Alcohol affects mental abilities, memory and personality thought process. These are well known and documented effects of the drug. What you're experiencing is just plain ol' inebration.

Drunkenness can affect us all in slightly different ways, and there is no way to change what it does to you. All you can do is either deal with it, or don't drink enough for it to happen. Sorry I don't have a magical fix-up for you.

This is not an "allergic" reaction ... this is what alcohol does ... it IMPAIRS! And contrary to what you're saying, it is a tolerance issue. It sounds like you should stop at one drink, or not drink at all. There is no other way to solve this problem. You can't keep alcohol from doing what it does to the human body so long as you drink it. Sorry, I am sure that's not what you wanted to hear, but facts are facts.

My son is 6 weeks and also has a spotty face especially around is mouth and chin. We found that it improved after a bath or washing his face with cool boiled water. I don't think it's an allergic reaction to his milk.

As a mental health practitioner with 20+ years experience, much of it dealing with alcohol abuse and addiction, I can tell you clearly that God has blessed you with what you may considering a failing. Alcohol is the only drug who's primary function is killing brain cells, so if you're worried about memory failures, then be glad that you have been smart enough to "drink sparingly". I do the same, and so, since I drink so little, the quality of what I drink is much superior and classy than all the "rot gut" that so many people, including my friends and family, consume in much higher quantity. Drinking sparingly allows you to drink with discrimination (and I don't mean that you drink with only certain races of people, I mean you choose more particularly what you drink). People get impressed by your more costly drinks, and women love a classy man, no matter how he got that way. You look so much more adult and mature and sophisticated and smart, so, be thankful to God for your "failing". You may not realize just how much of a better life He has given you. And I have 20+ years working with people with various drinking disorders to be very sure of that. You're looking good. God Bless you.
