Get a Caliber and a big dog. The Caliber looks a lot cooler than all those other boring generic econo-boxes out there and the big dog can moon all the little yappy dogs riding around in all those other boring generic econo-boxes (just like in the commercial).

Dont buy anything korean or chinese like hyundai or kia
There crap.
Japanese cars are great like the civic there a nice car.
Personally for that money i would get a volvo 850 T5.
They have 4 doors five seats good mpg and bloody fast.
0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds
You can pick up one for about 10k

kia's and hyundai's while they can be good vehicles have horrible resale values. only get one if you know your going to keep it and be happy w/ it as you will not be happy if you try to trade them in. honda's are always safe bets, but right now you can get a 2005 toyota camry for around the 15k range w/ 20-30k miles on them. good cars and larger/more comfortable than the civic, also not as bland as the civic. although there is nothing wrong w/ many of the american cars depending on how long your going to keep them. often you can get more options for the same money you'd spend on a honda/toyota. nissan's quality has come into questions in the last few years...

Your automobile purchase needs to start with your needs and what your going to use it for..Recreation, long highway commute, inter-city... Is it just you? or do you have a family of 7? Do you care about gas mileage? If I were to drop 15K on something just because.. stick with something that is old enough to have had it's depreciation and good enough to hold it.. Get a used 2003/4/5 BMW from a private party... they have 300/500 and the 700's to fit any size and will last 250K miles and hold the value.. drive it for a year or 2 and resell it for 13K...

You might try the Civic or a used Toyota Camry - they last forever and have great mpg. Also look into the Nissans, there are some good models you might like.

The best buy in a new car in that price range is (believe it or not), the Hyundai Elantra. It has a 10-year powertrain warranty and a lot of equipment for the price.

Get a Nissan Versa, it doesn't have huge muscle power, but it does have a great gas mileage rating. But the choice is ultimately yours.
