It is a two way street. If they can not provide you proof that you owe them they can not per sue you. They may try but you will win. Creditors have to provide you with the statements if not I would seek legal advise a simple letter from an attorney should clear things up for them real quick.

It probably depends on who you bank with.
I would first try to see if your credit card company has an online site.
If so you could probably sign up and download those records in the time it takes you to read all of the replies that you are going to get on here.
If that does not work, call the credit card company directly and ask them what you need to do to submit a request for that information.
I am certain that it is around on microfish someplace so it might take a few days for someone to find it but it should be there.
GOOD LUCK

It is NOT impossible for them to provide you with that. Like any other business, credit card companies have to keep records for seven years for tax purposes, and that includes your statements. Besides, you are not the only person who has ever called a credit card company with that request. People who are being audited, divorced, declaring bankruptcy, or are being sued need that information all the time.

Rattle some cages. Firmly request that they provide you with a copy of your statement. They may charge you a fee (they have the right to do that), but they can most certainly get it for you.

Uh, next time? Hold on to your statements! I work at a bank, and I can tell you that it is very frustrating to have people wander in and ask for copies of their statements simply because they didn't bother to open their mail and threw them away, or didn't think they'd ever need them. Losing them in a fire is one thing, but careless bookkeeping makes me want to pull out my hair. :)

Good luck, and don't back down. If you have to, ask to speak to a supervisor, and tell them your situation. Don't let the credit card call centre push you around because they don't feel like doing their jobs!

Call your credit card company, and ask for copies of your statements. Note, some banks may charge for older statements.
