So I am taking this lady out for the first time monday night to dinner. I would like to give her a simple boque or perhaps a single rose or something. Any suggestions on the best choice?

single yellow rose.
or orchids.
something simple and exotic.

Yellow rose = friendship
Red rose = love
Orchids = honor and admiration!!

yes, give her something simple.
not a big bunch of flowers, that may overwhelm her!

how about a nice corsage?
a single rose is sweet, but
I'd rather have flowers delivered from you the next day at my work!!!! or home!! IMPRESSIVE at work!!!

you hopeless romantic!!
so sweet!

I think flowers are a great idea. I'd go with a simple bouquet of fresh cut flowers as opposed to a single rose. Too much significance can be tied to the giving of a single rose. For a first date, I definately think the bouquet is a more appropriate choice and is a very nice touch. Nice to see men out there still interested in bringing a lady flowers when he takes her out.

A pretty simple arrangement is best.

A PINK rose with greenary and babies breath. That is a great compromise. Be sure that the rose as a water bulb on the bottom, so that it won't die at the table.

Also get her business card while at dinner and if it all works out- impress her by sending some to her office. Or carrying some to the front desk (cheaper) to be delivered by her staff to her.
Mixed flowers are best. That's a great start.

Floral choices need to be layed out. Each flower "has a meaning" do ask around a bit, so you don't get the funeral or I love you flowers too soon. LOL

Unless you were closely related to her before, don't give her anything. It's a little too much for a first time. If you knew her from before, and were friends or very close, then a simple rose would be nice. Otherwise, making the night seem nice to her is more than enough.

Offer to pay for the coffee ... or have a few nice jokes up your sleeve. Something interesting to talk about and agree upon. ;).

Catch her interest, not her eyes. A flower doesn't interest her too much at that time. More like your personality, and actions. Flowers mean more on the lines of "I care about you" or "I like/respect/w/e you". too soon. on a second date or third (if u wish to keep her waiting a bit) should be started with a nice rose...;)

Depending on your relationship with this lady ....
If she is someone you don't know (i.e dating site, blind date etc) a boquet of mixed flowers would probably appropriate and be a very nice, gentlemanly gesture.
Whereas, a single rose might infer a little more heartfelt emotion. Such as somebody who you have liked for sometime and the first date is more than just a "getting to know them" situation, but rather a "we're going to try taking it a step further" kind of thing.
Either way , it's a very nice touch and you can't possibly go wrong. It's nice that you have been so thoughtful and any woman would be grateful!! good luck to you and I hope all goes well.

I am sorry, but I have to disagree on the flowers on the first date. Get to know her first, and see how dinner works out. If she is still around on Valentines Day then send her a small bouquet of colorful flowers (No Roses) that should work.

DO NOT GIVE HER A ROSE. A rose says "love" and will scare her away so fast. In fact, just forget about flowers all together and wait until you've had a few dates with her. Flowers that are too early scream "desperate".

Don't give her anything. It's not expected on a first date, you don't wont her thinking that you are already in love with her or something like that. I could initially scare her away or worse put you up on an even par with all of the other guys chasing after her. Act like she's your bratty sister. If you do this I guarantee success.

Forget the roses..REALLY..thats the first thought that most guys, make yourself memorable, find out her favorite color, and bring a boquet of different shades of that color, or go with carnations, gerber daisies, lily of the valley, something like that...girls remember the guy that brought some unsual..it shows thought went inot it..I can't remember the roses i got..boring...

I'm with everyone on the daisy idea - just a couple or something fun - like 'i didn't really want to get you serious flowers, but i'm a cool guy so heres something anyway' go with that, make sure you smile when you give them to her.
