It's a lot less stressful if you have a planner, but if you dont have the money or on a tight budget than doing it yourself is the best. Wedding planner just has a orderly way of doing things fast and on time going over every little detail as possible. All you do is give the say and order what you want to be done. Its still work for you to do, but it will pay off when its the big day and you wont be going back and forth looking for the florsit/decorater/photographer and ect, because the planner will be doing all the calls and making sure its done, while you are getting ready.
But I see more and more people doing it themselves, there are a lot of help out there with your bridesmaids, mothers, magazines, and internet that really it puts it in plain simple steps what to do and how to do it just like a planner. It will cost you a lot less to do it yourself, just make sure you have the time and others will help you out.

Funny thing is i started to plan my wedding. And i went to a bridal shower and I WON. Well I ended up going to meet her and then she said we were only going to meet so many times and call her so many times. She couldn't set anything up for me cause i had a everything planned. But she said she could help alot on the day of the wedding she could decorate and put all my tables together pretty much organize everything the day of the wedding. I said well Awesome that is great. I wont have to run around like a chicken with her head cut off i thought. Well then last thing she told me was i will send you the contract for you to read and mail back to me. Mind you that this was all free. Well ended up telling me the contract that if any case she wouldn't show up at the wedding and she had to send someone else in her place i had to pay for that fee and then if something got broken she wasn't liable for breaking anything. If anything she did didn't turn out the way i wanted and the wedding got ruined then i could do anything about that either so pretty much if she ruined my wedding I could legally do anything against her. I decided to forget about the supposedly FREEE wedding consultant. I think sometimes these people just cause more head aches than anything. So i would prefer to do it myself. but everyone is different good luck.

Ok here's the thing Im going to be completely honest with you, I am a wedding planner and yes it's great but I think you are the only person who can tell you what and how you want your wedding to go. Yes having someone to do everything for you would be nice but it wouldnt be the same as if you were to at least try. I spend most of my days trying to convience couple that red and purple arn't the greatest color for a winter wedding in a blue based church. but I do it to make money and if they go for what I think than its just more for me So I suggest if you know what you want then just do it yourself or have your mom or a friend help it will save you lots of money and then if you get mad at them you don't have to pay them anyway and if at anytime you need help you can just ask.

i'm not australian, but regardless if i were, i would never hire a wedding planner. i want to experience planning the wedding myslef, with help from close friends and family, instead of having a stranger do it for me. i think wedding planners take that out for many people, and i want to experience it!

C'mon Linda, if you plan on a large wedding with all the trimmings, you can't live without a wedding planner. YOU can't be everywhere managing all the details of everything that's happening.

I have relatives for that sort of thing. These people actually like this sort of thing! It's rather sickening, but I just okay everything. I like it that way. So, I guess if budget permitted (I have no idea what the budget is because our families are paying) and my family didn't enjoy planning this party, then I'd hire someone to do it, sure.

I would never hire one. I always wanted to be one actually, but I've loved planning mine so much I couldn't imagine not planning it. I think I would have really missed out.

I would do my own wedding just because it's cheaper and I can make anything work.
