If you tell a guy that you like him, but they say that they don't like you back, what should your response be? The response has to be that won't make the situation uncomfortable.

Pat him on the head and say, "have a nice life kiddo"!
that's what my b/f did when i broke up with him, and I never forgot it, and guess what??
I'm married to the one I found after him and I have a wonderful life!!!

move on, you will have many crushes and b/f's.
you are lovely, and a good person.
be happy and wish him or her well!!!

Please don't say "Your loss." Although you might think you look good in this situation, the statement is pretty childish.

It also depends on what you told the guy. Did you say "I love you" out of the blue? Or was it more casual, like "I kinda like you"?

I would try saying, "Oh well, now I know" or "I respect your feelings." You'll most likely feel uncomfortable either way. You could also say, "Maybe we can just be friends" which is a common line that isn't acted upon too much. If he's a good guy he'll agree and you just might be friends. If he's a nice guy, he won't ever bring it up again. If he's a jerk, he'll say "I don't even want to be friends with you." And that is the worst case scenario. But I'm sure you like him because he's not that kind of guy.

Good luck.

Well it sounds like an awkward thing ---probably because of your age. Millions of kids have these dilemmas---nothing new---nothing disasterous. A no response or an unexpected reaction is always a possibility---how you react is the key---sometimes these little conversations are out of place and make a person uncomfortable---think of something else to talk about--the attraction or affection should just be a natural thing---and boys and girls are different EMOTIONALLY--you will see that real soon---so just relax, and let nature do the talking---good luck

Hmmm, that's a toughie. It will be uncomfortable no matter what, but you can try to inject humor or lighten it up somehow, you know the situation better than I do. Thank them for being honest with you. And let them know you're still their friend and you've got their back.

Not a word . . .

Just find a new crush and act like he never existed.

Don't empower your crush but letting know that you are thinking or musing over him.
