Each branch promotes its own generals. An officer would have to be commissioned as a 2Lt., then be selected for 1Lt., CPT, Major, Lt. Colonel, Colonel, then Brigadier general. General ranks increase from there to Major Gen., Lt. General, and then General. The promotion rates and percentages vary depending on the branch.

there became purely one accepted of the Armies, Black Jack Pershing. Washington became posthumously promoted to the rank because he became the first commander-in-chief of the military. The rank will not be utilized because it might create a situation with someone out score Washington. accepted of the military (5 megastar) is the utmost rank conceivable in conflict time even as there desires to be a superb commander that has no equivalent rank. chief of artwork force isn't accepted of the military. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of artwork force isn't the final of the military both. Chiefs of artwork force and the Chairman of JCS are the utmost score (4stars) human beings of their respective branches.

the rank is the same for all branches within the army. however, to get there you must first be in the Army. have a college degree (can't be an officer without one). other than that, lots of time and patience and excellence within your field. good leadership skills, too, obviously.

To become a general you need over 25+ years of service as an officer. You don't have to go to an academy, you just have to really love your job and not want to retire right away.
There isn't any butt kissing, you just have to be really dedicated and good at your job!

Kiss alot of butt, be the best at EVERYTHING, and smooze the politicians! It's hard, from what some people I know say, it's less than .5% of the army that even gets considered after many many years.
