I noticed that this was a very common question, I asked my professor (a vet) about it and he said that if the spots stay and the cat is mature then it is not a problem. It is very common fo cats to get speckled membranes. But if tey appear and disappear then it's time to go to the vet, could be cancer!! Just thought I'd lt everyone know :)

Thanks for the heads up-as I wondered about the black spots on my kitty's gums but the vet never mentioned it (he has looked in my baby's mouth)

Hi there: Thank you very much for the info. I have my cat sitting with his chin on one side of my laptop and my poodle on the other side. I pet one and then the other and type. This is another great evening.

Cool... thanks for the heads up. My 9 yr old has black spots along his "lips." But I always knew they were pigmentation.
