What's God got to do with it? You call it brotherly love with your fellow man/woman. You ARE connected to everyone and everything. You are a part of a community of people that are 99.9% identical to you. We all share the common goal of creating a brighter future for our children. I'm surprised more people aren't kinder to others. God has nothing to do with any of it.

Well, it all depends on how willing you are to take on other people's baggage when you use a word. If you call that feeling "God," you run the risk of other people thinking you believe in a supernatural, omniscient, omnipotent person who controls the course of all cosmic events.
BUT: cutting edge systems theory, quantum theory, and consciousness studies all suggest a naturalistic phenomenon which accounts for your feeling. Basically, everything IS connected at a subquantum level -- on the level of the quantum vacuum or zero-point field which is the matrix within which all phenomena arise. There is evidence which suggests that this "vacuum" is actually a plenum in which all spacetime events are encoded holographically and propagate superluminally as torsion-wave interference patterns. I know it sounds like crap, but it's not. Basically, your brain is a quantum amplification detection device which reacts to these interference patterns. Mostly, our sensitivity is pretty crude. But sometimes, it seems as if we are on the brink of accessing a whole universe of information, and we feel connected... In fact we ARE connected, though we're rarely aware of it.
You want more, go to Amazon and get this book by Ervin Laszlo: "The Interconnected Universe: Conceptual Foundations of Transdisciplinary Unified Theory." It'll blow your mind.
FWIW, I think God is the zero point field.

It is called oneness of Brahman or something nearer to that.
The Brahman is where one feels oneself the same nature as that of others and therefore the connection.
Even if you are an atheist, you are still not the body but eternal indestructible, spirit soul living within the body which is common to any sect of religionist.
If you have a material vision, you may American, Europenan, Italian, German, Spanish, Mongolian, Japanese, Australian etc... which results in differences on bodily level . But on the spiritual vision there is no such differences due to differences in place of birth or language, creed, colour, caste etc... Whatever one may materially one is spirit soul which is same for everyone. Therefore on the spiritual level there is a feeling of connection.
First level is bodily sensual level where differences are felt.
Next level is mental platform, and higher still is intellectual platform. Higher to this is spiritual platform where there is a feeling of oneness with the other spirit souls, who are also of the same quality as you are.
All of us are spirit. Higher still is the acknowledgment of supersoul separate from the soul, which is achieved by much practice.
Brahman realization is the first step where the aspect of eternality is realized
Paramatma realization is the second step in transcendental realization where the two aspects of eternality and knowledge aspect is realized.
Bhagavan realization is the ultimate realization of the Absoulte Truth, where the there aspects sac-cid-ananda, eternal knowledge and bliss is realized.
You are on the first level of spiritual understanding. Keep it up and try to go up higher to the other two realization.

I know you don't want to hear about God so I'll try without mentioning Him again. Regardless of our beliefs, we all come from the same thing, whether it's a creator, a force, an evolution. We are connected. We are related. This life has a meaning.
May God Bless you.

The Bible tells us that God has clearly revealed Himself in nature (Romans 1:20) and in the hearts of people (Ecclesiastes 3:11). The problem is that the human race is sinful; we all reject this knowledge of God and rebel against Him (Romans 1:21-23). Apart from God's grace, God would give us over to the sinful desires of our hearts, allowing us to discover how useless and miserable life is apart from Him. This He does for those who reject Him (Romans 1:24-32).
Deuteronomy 4:29 proclaims, “But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul.” This verse teaches an important principle: everyone who truly seeks after God will find Him. If a person truly desires to know God, God will make Himself known.

It's not C---.
If you thought it was, then why did you phrase the question in terms of God?
I claim the promise of John 6:44
"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day."
You asked your question here, in the Religion & Spirituality page, so you are going to get the c____ you said you don't want!
And, like it or not, you are a sinner just like the rest of us.
Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
The connectedness does not necessarily come from God:
2 Corinthians 11:14-15
14 No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.
I suggest that you identify what gives you this feeling of connectedness, and don't exclude God from the realm of possibility!
Start by reading the Gospel of John.

Get close to GOD and see what happens. For just a day or a week don't do anything that you think GOD would not want you to do and see how connected you feel then. Ask GOD what to do before you do it. I have done it and it scared the crap out of me. The closer you get to him the closer he gets to you.

I would really like to know what you think causes that connected feeling? I won't tell you what it is my friend, because I think you already know or will know soon.
