You guys are right, you deserve respect, even if many of us don't agree with your beliefs. But why do you disrespect non-Christians by posting long biblical quotes in response to our answers (I know you don't all do this, this is for people who do.)
This is why it is offensive to me personally:
Although I respect that you consider it your sacred text, it is not mine, therefor your pastes mean no more to me than quotes from the Quran do to you.
It shows you did not take the time to think about your answer much (many of these quotes I get don't even apply! They just say things like :"love the lord God with all your heart" and that type of stuff. It makes me think you didn't even read my question.
But most importantly, it shows you don't respect MY beliefs, because you think I need yours to show me the way, or that I am lost and need to convert, or something to that affect.
Please respect me in this way, and I will show respect toward you and your sacred text. Is anyone with me?

Midge, I explained quite clearly why it bothers me.
Steven, there are right and wrong ways to try to pass on your message. And that way (coming from a non-Christian) is a very wrong way for the reasons I listed above. It shows a true lack of respect, and no one is going to respond positively to that.

I agree. Unfortunately I think the Christians that copy and paste scripture are actually very unsure of their own beliefs and have to bolster their position with rambling proverbs and such.
I try to have respect for everyone's beliefs. But these types only get pity from me.

no matter if the criteria and morals i exploit in on a daily basis existence are written in finished in a e book - i do not understand. What guides me to coach those morals? Compassion for my fellow guy. i do not might want to be a Christian to have empathy or sympathy for yet another man or woman or animal. i might want to judge myself agnostic because i'm nevertheless exploring my beliefs and performance no longer got here across one certain faith that suites my beliefs and convictions. in reality, i does no longer do something to somebody else that i does no longer pick finished to me. one can argue that it really is a Christian conception (The Golden Rule) yet easily, all religions have a variety of this "Golden Rule". some religions call it Karma (in spite of you do to someone comes again to you). Wiccans say in spite of you do comes again to you circumstances 3 no matter if or not this is sturdy or undesirable. i do no longer stay by potential of this because this is the Golden Rule of Christianity or the different faith, yet quite because I have compassion for others. i could not in any respect pick to interrupt someone without reason or reason them any harm. i do not lie because i imagine I deserve the reality besides. it really is a count number of appreciate and compassion for others. i elect to receive appreciate and in order to receive appreciate, you may want to first supply appreciate. different judgements are about motivation. I have motivation to do something sturdy because it is going to both income me or someone i like interior the destiny or maybe interior the instant destiny.

I find some (not all) Christians are being childish and pushy. For Example, I was approached by one Christian when I was young, the first question he asked is "Do you believe in God?", my reactive answer is "No, sorry, I am a Buddhist".
To my dismay, his answer is "Then you will burn in hell, you have to burn all the idols, burn all the scripture, believe in the one creator, fear him .... .bla bla bla ....." Then he insisted on me to read the repent verse and swore my allegiance to God. If he showed some respectful to my religion, I might not be that angry, but then, being angry I replied with a very disrespectful tone (well, sorry to all christians) "Ok, see you and all the christians in hell, oh, and say hi to lucifer to me when he starts to burn you".

You and others quote your sources and they are from a broad spectrum. (Including satanic bibles, etc. and I don't hear you complain?? Is it because other sources, of evil or earthly secular origins do not convince you of sin and put you under conviction?) It is often best to quote from the original source because that's where it is said best. You have to attack the message then and not the messenger because WE DIDN'T WRITE IT!! (or make the rules!) We are merely ambassadors. It is our LIFE! Our daily BREAD! The answers to all of life are there. Others who despise God's laws disrespect Christians with intolerance and constantly denigrating God's Holy Word trying to pervert it, discredit it, and so forth with name-calling. (We will call sins exactly what the Bible judges them to be.) I don't attack others I disagree with but I surely defend my faith. God's Word is alive, it's real, it's holy, it's eternal, it's forever settled in heaven and when it goes out it will not return void. I can take one promise of God's and string it over hell like a tight rope and do summersalts on it with complete confidence it would hold me safely out of danger. The Word is THE FINAL AUTHORITY because it is SO POWERFUL when GOD speaks that worlds are formed and lives are changed! We want people to know what God has to say about everyday issues of life, the same as everyone else wants to voice and He should be thoroughly represented when there are SO many deceptions going around to ensnare people. It is the power of God to save and it is called the gospel for a reason because it's the best news mankind ever heard! When judgment day arrives for each and every one, they will KNOW that their deeds were evil because the light of the Word shined upon them. They will have heard that God can do all things from save their lost soul, heal diseases, comfort them right where they are at, and take them all the way to heaven.

Sure I'm with you but you must understand that most Christians believe that their message must to passed on. Does that mean to talk down about others? No. But still believers are required to speak of theirs beliefs, always. That is what makes them believers.

I am a Christian and I personally do not have time to type lengthy scripture verses in response to your questions.
I respect all persons regardless of what they believe.

The bible teaches christians that light (christians) has nothing to do with darkness (non-christians), and to not be unevenly yoked with unbelievers. The bible also teaches christians not to cast their pearls to swine (unbelievers) and to wash the dust (unbelievers) from your feet.
As an atheist, I have noticed that some christians use these quotes from the bible to justify their disrespectful and rude behavior.
