How many bananas are you eating?
I never heard of them causing heartburn. But you need to think about this:
when you eat alot of one kind of fruit or any other food, you are missing out on nutrients you'd get from other foods. Why not eat an apple, orange, etc??!!
Bananas have alot of potassium, which is good, but DON'T overdo it.

Yes you can get heartburn from bananas. I had the same problem a few years ago. I stayed away from them. I would try one every now and then and I would get heartburn. I was recently diagnosed with reflux, I can eat about half of one now and I am okay. But I can never eat them like I used to. I never get heartburn unless I eat a banana. Stay away from them and your heartburn will probably clear up. Best of Luck.

Bananas are a neutral sort of fruit. They aren't acid, and on the pH scale I believe they are a 6.5 (low, low acid) or a 7 (neutral). Anyhow, I doubt that bananas would be the cause of your heartburn. Heartburn is mostly triggered by spicy, acid, gassy foods that annoy the stomach. Maybe something you are drinking with it or eating along with it is causing the heartburn. Also, if you have been eating many bananas and think they are the cause of your heartburn, try your best to not eat them as much.

Could be the bananas. In the meantime...Pepcid ac, Tagament, or Mylanta are what will give you some relief. I get heartburn constantly. When I get it ..I take a couple swigs Mylanta for immediate relief along with a Tagament that will last 12 hours.

I eat bananas every day (great source of potassium). I've never had that problem. But your approach of not eating them for a few days is a good one (process of elimination).
Only thing I'd suggest is NOT taking Mallox or any other drugs. At least, this way, you can have a clear answer.
If you're drinking anything acidic like V8, tomato, juice, orange juice...that would be the more likely cause.

More than likely, it is not the banana. It is over eating.
1. Eat less, exercise more.
2. If you can, avoid soda, coffee, spicy food and unusual food (something that your stomach is not used to).
3. Try to walk 10-30 minutes, after each meal.
4. Do not go to bed for at least 30 minutes, after eating
5. When you go to bed, sleep on your left side to start.
Good Luck

The overload of potassium is gassing you up...you'll be fine in a couple of days if you lay off the bananas. Try some Tagamet.
