this is a question that has been on my mind for a while:

How many atheists don't believe in g-d _because_ of a religion and not spirtuality?

I want to know because in the answers that I've seen that atheists are against certain religions or practices of religions.

I also would like to say I respect your opinion and you have your belief and I have mine.

sorry, i'm not trying to offend or anything. >.>...
in doing so, I still botch it up.

but anyway, _Because_ religion, because I see some atheists who say they were put off by rules and such and just 'got sick with it'.

I do not believe in God mostly because of the ridiculous nature of religious texts and dogma. But I also see no evidence of God, which is just as important in my lack of belief.

I don't believe in God.
On a seperate issue, I'm offended by Xianity. It doesn't effect my first statement, but truly it's shown to be a hateful religion by it's followers. Especially on here. There are other religions that look positive to me, like Wicca and Buddhism, among others. I don't follow them, because of the first statement.

So, no. religion is not the reason I'm an atheist. My lack of belief in gods is.

Atheists don't follow a belief system by deffinition. I don't agree with some of the things that Christianity teaches. Such as Intelligent Design or the age of the world. I also think the bible taken litterly (as some DO take it) Can turn many people into evil hearted monsters. ex. slaves and stuff

Cant talk for all atheist, yet myself and maximum i understand don't have self assurance in God precisely because there is not any data. If someone grow to be to educate valid data for God, i ought to actual settle for it, and so ought to maximum atheists i understand. there's a huge difference between accepting data and replacing beliefs. Being an atheist isn't about a gadget of beliefs, that is only a lack of perception in a god.

Atheists don't believe because they don't believe. Period.

Atheists are against certain religions and not others because the religions they're against are trying to make everyone else live by that religions laws.

Atheists honestly wouldn't give one damn what they do, so long as they didn't violate any laws, if the religions learned to keep their religion to themselves.

Atheists care what Christians do because Christians try to make everyone else do what they want them to do whether they agree with the Christians or not. Atheists don't care what Buddhists do because Buddhists have learned not to try to make everyone else do what they want people to do.

I believe the Hebrew Bible is the myths of the ancient Hebrews. I believe that all organized religions that believe the Hebrew Bible is holy cause delusional behavior in their followers.

I think that any kind of supernatural creator is highly unlikely.

I think "spirituality" is poorly defined, and means different things to different people. I consider myself to have a kind of spirituality, but I suspect most religious people would not agree with my definition of spirituality.

I dont believe God exist

All religions are based on the belief in the supernatural. I dont believe in the supernatural

I dont believe in the spiritual stuff. Most people dont even have a solid definition of "spiritual. They just use the word when they dont know what else to say or they use the word when trying to explain something they dont understand.

I am an atheist and I do not believe in gods because there is no evidence that supports the existence of any deity.

I respect your opinion as well and you have your belief and I have my disbelief.

Atheists don't believe in God period. If a person dosen't have religion(dosen't like a certain religion, or all religion in general), but thinks a God could possibly exist, they would be an Agnostic.
