Saladin's relationship with Richard I of England was one of chivalrous mutual respect as well as military rivalry; both were celebrated in courtly romances. When Richard was wounded, Saladin offered the services of his personal physician. At Arsuf, when Richard lost his horse, Saladin sent him two replacements. Saladin also sent him fresh fruit with snow, to keep his drinks cold. Richard had suggested to Saladin that his sister could marry Saladin's brother - and Jerusalem could be their wedding gift.
Notwithstanding the differences in beliefs, the Muslim Saladin was respected by Christian lords, Richard especially. Richard once praised Saladin as a great prince, saying that he was without doubt the greatest and most powerful leader in the Islamic world. Saladin in turn stated that there was not a more honorable Christian lord than Richard. After the treaty, Saladin and Richard sent each other many gifts as tokens of respect. There really is no way that Christians and Muslims can have any kind of relationship.
Christians believe that Jesus is God while Muslims believe that Jesus was just a prophet.
There are so many more differences regarding faith that it would be impossible for the two faiths to have an on going relationship.

Saladin and Richard were not extremists or Islamafascists bent of the total annihilation of each others culture - they each had limited objectives: the conquest of the Holy Land. Are Al Quida and the United States going to one day laugh about past attacks over coffee and donuts - No F'in way. One or the other will need to be destroyed.

it can only happen when both richard I and saladin will be resurrected and lead both the christian and muslim world respectively. The problem in todays society is we have a bigoted christian leader George Bush with his dogs tony blair and others, and islamic terrorist leader osama bin laden with his international terrorist network organization. lets just hope that richard and saladin's spirit enter the body os this two evil people.

Unfortunately, that's all the Christian world remembers or knows, it's always Saladin (Salah- ul-Deen)...

There were many noble and respectable leaders in Islam, including the four Caliphs who were nominated to lead the Islamic Umma after the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) death, Abu Bakr, Omar, Uthman and Ali, as well as many others who came after them...

It's fortunate that the message of Islam was understood by many who listened to it, but more unfortunate are those who misunderstood it, and chose to keep their old religious beliefs...

Your question is poorly formed. i've got self assurance you decide on ideas of ethics, not principals. (a proper is the two somebody who acts as an agent to act on their behalf or an quantity borrowed and owed different than for interest) of course, you DO opt to handle the non secular ameliorations or this question does not be addressed specifically to 3 distinctive faith communities. considering that i'm Jewish, i will furnish connection with Jewish solutions on those themes. EDIT: You made assumption that all people 3 religions have the comparable stance on each concern. that may not the case, even interior of all of the non secular traditions headings. So, of course it is not america being divided alongside a sparkling line of non secular vs Secular on those themes. some atheists do not believe asisted suicide, case in point. Please learn right here from solutions which will optimistically come from all 3 faith communities that it is not as black and white as you opt to portray.

I think its very possible..Its all about bridging the gap and trying to understand one another. I think there is alot of things into play as to why there is such a "mystery" and "fear" or each other and when we get to know one another we learn that deep down inside we have alot more in common that what we thought.

Both religions proselytize, as long as they feel they NEED to convert the other there will never be a peaceful existence because both sides will see this as a sign of disrespect.

the only way to peace is respect. if someone is rude to you and you respond by kindness, how can he or she keep that attitude toward you? faith should not get in the way of friendship. maybe we should see the similarities instead of differences? and if we cannot do that, at least ignore the other person's faith, background, color, etc and just look at them as a person

it's hard, becuase muslims reject the CORE FAITH of Christianity, the death, divinity, and resurrection of Jesus Christ!

"Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son." 1 John 2:22
