You have to remember that prayer, real prayer is not for God but for us, it's a pacifier, if you will. What many fail to understand is that God's will is his word. So if you're praying for something that is contrary to his word then you will be right, you might as well therefore skip the praying part.

First of all I my self don't think there is a Divine plan, because if there is a divine plan there can be no choice. With a divine plan all your actions are set in stone and what you have is the illusion of choice. It would not matter what you chose with a divine plan your going to end up in the same place anyways. I think praying though help to reassure us that we have some choice in what goes on around are lifes, and if your prayer comes true makes you feel closer to God. If it does not well at least your trying to participate in the future of your life.

Great question! I want to also mention that Jesus says, "Ask for it in my name and you WILL receive" with no ifs or strings attached. So why pray "if it is Your will" if you can ask and receive? The answer is, because you don't always receive. Even when you pray with the faith of a mountain (forget a mustard seed), or when two or more are gathered.
So even though we are told that our prayers WILL be answered that we "will be delivered" as Paul states, the fact is not all prayers are answered... even when a child's life depends on it. So to reconcile this, we have to leave an opening for the "what ifs" and pray "if it is Your will"... You be the judge as to whether or not it is justified.

Actually I believe all prayers are answered. They are answered according to God's will. Unfortunately most of the human race doesn't accept God's will.
Sometimes God decides it is better if we wait for what we want so He puts us on hold.
Other times He just don't think we should have our request and says no. Because we don't accept His answer of no we make the claim He doesn't answer.
sometimes we get what we want when we want it.
God knows what we have to face before we face it. Because He does, He knows exactly what we need. He is willing to give us waht we want as well as long as there is no harm coming to us out of it.
I had a friend who prayed for God to help her snag the man of her dreams. Always things went really bad when they were together. Still not accepting God's no she went head long into the relationship and married him. It turned out bad, real bad. He was abusive to her and their children. The only way she got him out of her life was him being arrested on several charges that allotted him a lot of years behind bars. Finally she sees the need of accepting God's will and her life has been a true blessing to her and her children.
Prayer is the time we spend with our heavenly Father that binds our heart and soul to Him. With out that time we wouldn't be able to build that much need relationship.
Praying for God's help keeps us aware of our need of Him. As soon as we overlook this need we fall into life's traps and seem to lay there like a helples trapped animal until the day we break down and go to our loving Father in heaven.

We pray to God to give us the strength to accept our place in His Divine Plan. God listens to our prayers. We think we know what we want or what we need when we pray to God, but He is the only one who knows.

Yes, God made a plan for everyone. Those of us who pray get the best deal of His plan. Our prayers are always answered, however we usually do not see it nor appreciate it. So, just stop questioning and start praying, it is for your own good and nobody else's.

Gods will is for us to pray ...Gods will is to perform His work in the earth through His church, which is in fact through His Son Jesus .. the sincere prayer of a righteous person carries much weight with God, however, those that are foolish enough to think they can control the "god-power" through prayer are no better than witches .. seeking to consume what they pray for on their own lust ... not being in the will of God.

Yeah, this is very true, but within the overall Grand Plan, he's shown himself capable of changing individual cases as the result of supplication - at least if you believe some of the stories in the Bible. So ultimately, acceptance of the Grand Plan is governed by the fact that we can't do a damn thing about that anyway, and prayer acts as a kind of supernatural plea-bargaining to convince him to treat your particular part of the grand plan gently.

God didn't plan everyone's life. He made the plan of salvation and he knew from the foundation of the world who would accept Jesus as their savior and who wouldn't. He knows the end from the beginning. But free will exists and that means that you can repent and believe in Jesus as your savior right now and follow him for the rest of your life. God already knows what you will do, but you have to act, he doesn't force his will on anyone.
