I am looking for a different version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Currently I have version 7. I hate it, and I would like the prior version. Does anyone know where I can download it for free? I tried freedownload.com, but it has changed so much and I can't find where I can download it free. Thanks in advance!

I have found no way to download IE 6 since the new version was released. You can buy a CD from Microsoft with the IE 6 Browser on it for about 5.00 which I believe is shipping & handling. However, I would urge you to try Opera's browser. It is much more secure and pages load much faster. You can also resume file downloads with Opera unlike in IE 6. The current Opera version is 9.10 and it is a free software. I like it much better and have been using it for about a year now. It also has phishing protection as well as a pop up blocker. Just to add to the previous answer and to ensure you find the program in your list to uninstall, do the following (assuming you are running Windows XP):
START >> CONTROL PANEL >> ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS
On the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS screen, make sure you select "SHOW UPDATES".
Scroll until you find Internet Explorer 7 (I believe it is actually listed as WINDOWS INTERNET EXPLORER 7).
Uninstall it and your system will rollback to the previous version of Internet Explorer installed (probably IE 6).

I don't think you can download it now since it's obsolete. Only Internet Explorer 7 is available

if you upgraded your PC from IE6 ... just uninstall IE7 (start --> control panel --> add remove programs --> choose IE 7 and remove ... you will be left with your previous copy of IE ..
