You can start taking lesson at any age, but you can not solo an aircraft until you 16 years old and you can not get your rating until you are 17.

A good website that you can search for flight school and get a lot of information on is http://www.beapilot.com/
You can also check my yahoo 360 blog I have been writing about getting your private pilot rating.

Hope this helps and good luck!

You can take flying lessons whatever your age is. In a single engine land aircraft, you have to be 16 to solo and 17 to get your license. You also have to pass a third class medical.
As far as hours, under part 61 of the FAR's you need 40 hours of flight time (20 dual, 20 solo). If you go to a school under part 141, you need 35 hours. Most people, though, get 50 to 60 hours of flight time before getting their private license. Getting a license includes a written test (you need 70 percent to pass), an oral test, and the flight check.
Check out the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) website for more information.

You can start at any age that your parents will allow. However, for
airplanes, single engine you cannto solo until you are 16 and cannot get your pilots certificate until you are 17.
