i have extremely straight hair!! im not allowed to get a perm..even though i really want one. b/c my mom says that i'll regret it and it will dry out my hair or soemthing. I've tried to use hot sticks, scrunching, and hot rollers but none of them work!!! my hair will not hold a curl very well. i can't put curlers in my hair because my hair is so fine and soft that they just slip right out of my hair! so i was wondering if there is anyone out there who has anyt suggestions for a new hairstyle for me? it can't be anything too hard, time consuming, or expensive because im only 13 and i can't go spend money on stuff like that because my mom won't let me. help? i have layered brown hair past my shoulders and side bangs

I'm 14 (15 in three weeks, though!), and I got a perm about six months ago - maybe when you're a little older your mom will let you give it a try. I just got a body wave, it's gentler on your hair and it's not poufy, ridiculous curls like perms of the 80s.

As for what you can do, before I got my own body wave, I used to take a shower in the morning, then brush my hair wet and braid it while it's still wet... then go to school like that (two braids are a cute school style), then sleep in them that night. The next morning, I'd just unbraid my hair and then it's wavy (and still pretty much tangle-free). Just brush it as little as possible so you don't brush out the waves. If you don't want to take a shower in the morning, I guess you could try it the night before, but it really works a lot better if you've got them in for an entire day and night.

Good luck with this! My hair doesn't hold a curl, either... I tried everything just like you. :)

when i was that age and i wanted curls in my hair, i would braid my hair in very small braids around my entire head... after taking a shower i would start to braid my hair in very tight 'skinny' braids until every strand was in a braid... go to bed with it like that, and then in the morning take the braids out, and put some mousse in it and scrunch it... it will have lots of curls... have fun and good luck!

try to: wash your hair, and while it's still damp spray a handful of mousse in your palm and scrunch it into your hair...and do that a couple more times to fully curl all of your hair...it'll look really good, guaranteed!..if you do it right..well there's really no wrong way of doing but yeah. it won't look curly like rolls, it'll probably be more wavy cuz of the type of hair you have. but try it and see how you like it.

If you want to curl your hair, try putting on conditioner and then braiding your hair overnight. Or you can buy shampoo that makes your hair curl. I've tried that before and it worked very well.

sometimes it helps me get my hair wavy when i put my hair in one of those messy buns when i get out of the shower.( i don tknow how to explain the bun...but its liek when you are putting your hair in a pony tail but then twist the hair and put in the scrunchy soo hairs are sticking out. )
but i dont put it in right away, i shake my hair so it gets a little dryer and then i put in the bun. and then sleep with it over night.

another way is two french braids, or just one french braid (depending on the length of your hair). put them in right when you get out of the shower.

those two should help. if they dont then i'm not sure what else.
