youre pretty light, if youre in arms reach an eye poke or any throat or nose strike is pretty effective, if you can reach a thumb grab it and bend it back, the natural reflex action will be a grab release...groin strike is usually effective...if youre not one to punch use your elbows and remember the striking radius is only half your normal reach, an instep smash (heel strike down towards attackers foot) or a short hard downward kick on side of attackers kneecap...after that...good luck

ok lets get real, a person twice your size has a great advantage in a stand up game. Time for a ground game... Now try to lift a 300lb person, heavy huh. Now take that same person and put them in a swimming pool, now you can lift the weight. That is similar to the ground and the effect you can have on manipulating their body weight, plus you can place them in positons taking away their weight advantage. Remember always fight a single limb, joint, never the person. You can take your body weight and with proper leverage and body mechanics you can break a limb very easily regardless the size of an opponent. A broken hand can stop a large man fast.

you won't do it here.in my experience noone attacking you is going to sit down and look at yahoo answers martial arts and be frightened off.lol.
A good well rounded style would be freestyle Karate. You will learn stand up,ground, grappling and weapons. What a lot of people don't understand is that freestyle Karate is about practical street defence not who can kick the highest or punch a pad the hardest. It's definitely not a sport martial art like TKD or BJJ.The motto of my style is the best of everything in progression.Basically that means we don't care where the technique comes from we improve it and integrate it into our style while still maintaining tradition as do most freestyle Karate's.
The hardest thing is finding a good experienced instructor.I would recommend Bushi Kai or Zen Do Kai, but if your not in Australia or New Zealand you may have some difficulty finding some one who teaches these styles. These styles also usually have separate classes available to everyone in Muay Thai and BJJ/Submission/Shoot wrestling. If you can't find one of these i would suggest Kempo or Enshin or another freestyle Karate.

I assume it is too late to start Martial Arts lessons. Either use a weapon or run. I recommend the latter.

Fight dirty. Eye gouge, kick balls, elbows or fists to the eye orbital, muay thai clinch and knees to the head. In that order.

Run like hell. If you can't get away, go for the eyes. Remember, it's a street fight, there are no rules.

--Invest in a cell phone! *Why* nobody else thinks of this stuff I have no idea. Get a cell phone, get 9-11 put on your speed dial, and use it the *minute you SEE* the guy. Do *not* wait for him to close distance. Make it loud and clear to as many bystanders as possible that you're calling the police and that you see *Him* (point!) as a threat....yes, you will look like a wuss.

And you will be alive. :)

--Read up on something called "situational awareness"...yeah, it's in quotes so you can copy and paste the *phrase* and search it without even having to type.

And while you are reading on how to be more aware of your surroundings....look into speed reading. Take a break and play some video games. All while keeping your eyes *locked* straight forward, without turning your head. Invest in improving your *peripheral vision* as it is fairly easy to do and will be your *primary* asset as regards situational awareness.

--Invest in steel-toed, steel-shanked *work boots*, and WEAR THEM. Daily. And get in the habit of kicking things, stationary things that are fairly rugged, like trees, fire hydrants, and so on. Kick once, lightly, and move on. No sense in getting into any trouble, and you really just want to get a feel for what it feels like to have *legal brass knuckles* on your feet.

And if you really *really* want to do something unorthodox and dojo-free in that regard....get an old mattress--or if you are rich, a large, heavy punching bag or stuffed duffel bag--and put it against the wall, thickest bits *at* natural foot level. You want this no higher than knee to hip height.

Go buy some extra *dance pads* for your DDR-style games...you will need multiples for this. Get duct tape. Tape the dance pad *to* your "bag", and play some Dance Dance Revolution by *kicking the bag*. It won't substitute for *real training*, but it will give you some idea as to what you need to do if the *bad guy* closes in on you.

--Look into something called "Crazy Monkey" boxing by a fellow from South Africa's Straight Blast Gym named Rodney King (remember, caucasian from South Africa, NOT African-American from L.A.). Study and practice the art of *covering up*, meaning you put your hands on your forehead, high around your hairline, let your elbows stick out, and hunch over so you can keep your head covered and your body *out of reach* at once.

The idea is simple enough. If the situational awareness fails, go to plan B, and use the cell phone. If you don't have time for the cell phone (suprise attack), go to plan C, cover up your head and neck as above, hunch over to keep your body out of reach, and *kick the pissall* out of his legs--remember, with steel-toed boots, you don't have to kick high or hard, just quickly and repeatedly *connect* and keep that momentum going.

Why? Because the truth is, most street-level punks are NOT going to be Thai Boxers. Their shins and knees and insteps are going to be as soft and weak as yours are. And with the steel-toed, steel-shanked work boots, combined with the better reach of your own legs, you should be able to *deter* your threat long enough to get out of Dodge.

And that needs to be your plan. Don't fight to "win", that is playing his game. Fight to escape. Kick the crap out of his legs, and the instant he falls back and *stops attacking*, back away out of his reach *first*, then turn tail and RUN. Seriously. It isn't just the best way to survive the encounter, it's the Law. You have to walk away ASAP. Search "duty to flee" for more legal implications of self-defense.

I know, this is a lot of stuff to remember, and yes, it does involve some investment of both money and training, but this may be the single *quickest* way to get safe I can think of. Hope this helps.

Pepper spray. Don't just squirt. He can duck. Keep your finger down. Hose him down. He can duck once, but then he's off balance and you can let him have it.

Stay out of the way. If they can't hit you, they can't damage you. Plain and simple.
