There is a man drowning in the middle of a lake. Very far from any shore. He has nothing to aid him. The lake is 100ft deep all around. There is another man on shore. He also cannot swim and has nothing to aid in rescue besides one 2x4 piece of wood. The man on shore saves the drowning man without getting himself nor the piece of 2x4 wet. How does he do it?

Hints: There is no one else that helps in the rescue. The man on shore does not float the piece of wood out to him. The man on shore does not ski out to him, for there is no boat. There is no helicopter, nor magical water beast. Goodluck!

The lake is frozen and the guy walks out to the hole the guy fell into.
He uses the 2x4 to lay across the hole and the hapless victim pulls himself out.

the lake has to be frozen and the man used the wood to brace his weight on the ice and got out to the man and the drowning man grabbed the board and pulled himself up.

was the man on the shore a priest and he "saved" him by making a cross out of the wood and performed last rites.......Iknow its a stretch but I'm stumped.

Maybe he holds on to the wood and gets the other guy to hold on the other end and pulls him in hence the wood not getting wet. Let us know what the answer is.

The man on the shore is Jesus and he can walk on water.

There is no way it is the ice answer since you said neither the man on the shore of the wood gets wet and if he pulled the man out of the hole in the ice water would slosh up, so that answer does NOT work.
