I just loved those. Especially the really nice ones with the ribbons all around them and the bows. The Saints were very special to me and I think the Holy Cards helped with that.

yeah.
My mom has a collection somewhere, I'm sure, but most stuck to the mirror on her dresser.
I have one of St Joseph with Jesus in his arms. I didn't have a good relationship with my own dad, so I really look to it as an ideal.

YES! I remember them. The nuns used to give them out all the time. Sure wish I had a few of those today. Never seen any with the ribbons and bows but some of them had really nice pictures.
It's a shame something so meaningful gets lost in the wayside.
I'm going to ask the preist to ask the parishoners at Sunday mass if any of them ever received them. Thank you so much for the wonderful memory!!! Have a great day!

Yes, I remember those. I haven't seen them since I was in Catholic grade school (and I won't say when). I don't even know if they're still being made. I came across one when I was moving some years ago, and it brought back a lot of memories... mostly unpleasant, but that is a reflection of my Catholic school experience. Needless to say, I'm an atheist now. I passed that card on to a nice little old Catholic lady who lived in my building. She liked it, and I figured if it made her day, so much the better. I would have felt like a hypocrite if I'd kept it.

Well I was a Catholic...and yes I do remember nuns handing out Holy Cards, in fact I think I still have them somewhere. I always liked the Catholic saints. :-)

I used to be a catholic and I remember the holy cards. They now probably have some value as items to collect. There are lots of things I dislike about catholicism but the cards were pleasant enough.

I am a high school faith formation catechist and I am doing cards for my students that have a biography and prayer of different saints. I am printing them on my printer.

You can still buy Holy Cards at places like Catholic bookstores or at http://www.autom.com Why not buy some and give them to your children, nieces, and nephews?

Well I'm not old... I'm only 26, but I remember in elementary school, we'd get little leaflets... from the Legion of Mary. With respect to the prayer/saint cards, I only remember having to buy those myself.

Midge,
Why do you think this church hands out these cards? Is it for your salvation? I think not. Its just another way for this church to control you.
They are so pretty you say. Especially the ones with ribbons. The saints were so special to me and you give the cards the credit.

I'm sorry dear. The catholic church is so far away from God with doing things like this. Pray the prayer on the other side of the card and the souls in Purgatory will get out sooner.

Everyone who is with God in Heaven is a Saint. The only thing they needed to do was to accept God's Saviour Jesus Christ and repent of their sins. At the death of their body they are in spirit before the Father forever.

I feel sorry for people who practice religion and never know God like the Catholics.><>

You can still get some of these. Below is a link to e-cards of the same nature for a modern age.
