Roughly 450,000 servicemen and women died as a result of that conflict, but we still speak English and not Japanese or German.
Can you imagine a world dominated by the Nazi Germans, Fascist Italians, and the Imperial Japanese? You should read some of the stories about Japanese atrocities such as the Rape of Nanking and just about every first hand account of how they treated their own people!
Nazi Germany undefeated would have finished the job on the Jewish people, and found some other group to take their place. It would have been a ghoulish world to live in.

It was very worthwhile. First of all American companies have huge ties with Europe and Asia, and a world war isnt too good for our economic policy. Secondly, at that time we kind of "owed" the French for their helping us with the victory of the Revolutionary War. Third, we were brought into this war by the Japanese, and the only way we could get allied support against them was to involve ourselves against Germany and Italy. Kinda getting away from the question but lets say that japan never bombed pearl harber. We never enter ww2. The axis powers would still have been defeated in europe ( japan would not have), although many many more british and russian lives would have been lost. The U.S wount have been able to play a part in the peace talks. Instead of the U.S becoming one of the 2 superpowers, you would have to geuss that Brittain, Japan, and Russia would have been the 3 superpowers. So then you have 3 superpowers.....the britts stagger behind due to a much smaller stock of resources. That leaves Russia (who probably controlled most of eastern europe) and Japan ( who probably controlled most of asia). Russia and Japan are very close to each other and would probably have many border conflicts over who controlled what land and such. This would probably have turned into ww3 with Russia invading China ( owned by Japan) and Japan using their far supierior navy to block any kind of trade into Russia. Brittain ( if they were smart) would attack a russian-controlled Germany to make the Russians fight a two-front war (they would have learned from hitler that it can be devestating) so they can gain some more influence in europe. Meanwhile the U.S is sitting there thinking how to stay out of this one. Well they cant find a solution to that question, the world's economy is in the crapper right now and the U.S needs to get involved. So who do you think the U.S would ally with. The Britts? Probably not, the united stated would look at europe as a war-torn stink hole and would have no interest in trading there. Russia? No, they are probably going to lose the war fighting against both Brittain and Japan. That Leaves Japan. So the U.S through Alaska invades the North-Eastern part of Russian and taken control of a vast amount of natural resources in siberia. ( Wood and oil mostly). The English probably move all the way to Moscow where they stop there advance as Japan comes to the city from the other side. Russia is forced into submission and is reduced in size and stature conciderably. So the U.S still is in siberia and americans are enjoying a cheap gasoline. Well since the English will probably have a firm hold on the middle east supply ( remember israel would not exsist) the Japs look for there own supply.....whats their easiest out in this picture? Attack the Americans. So Japan kicks the crap out of us in siberia and pushes us back into alaska ( which they will take for themselves) We have no help from anyone so we are forced into a surrender....all we will probably lose is Alaska though. So we are left with 2 world powers. Cold war? Probably not...the english and the Japs would learn to live around eachother and trade with each other. So what becomes of the U.S? No a whole lot I'd bet. We would survive and probably grow into the third superpower in a matter of years but never fully reach the high point in the world as we are in now....... This is not some researched theory or anything like that, just my opinion on what possibly could have happened

It's actually a lot harder question than it seems.
We had no treaty obligations to fulfill, if the US had remained neutral, it's very unlikely that Japanese would have attacked. They knew they could not defeat the US in a long war, but foresaw that the US would be pulled into the European conflict. Their plan was to grab what they could, and then hope the US accepted terms, favoring Japan, so the US could focus on Europe.
No US breach of neutrality = no inevitable war with Germany = no war with Japan.

We were forced into the war, because Japan attacked us. But deeper into the issue...Yes at the time it was a good move to show support to our brothers overseas, for political and economical reasons. But in todays light... no because most of our old brothers have turned their backs on us and think that we should mind our own business when innocent people are being killed by the hundreds.

It was. If Hitler had taken control of Europe and Japan taken control of Asia, we would have been isolated. Then there is the human toll on Europe and Asia, Hitler was murdering millions of innocent people and Japan was not to nice to innocent people in the countries they took over. Sometimes you need to help other people - that is very worthwhile.

Good question. Well it turned America into the 1st Superpower in history with the advent of nuclear bombs and also made the US into the economic Superpower that it still is today. But by becoming the world's 1st Superpower it may have given the US too MUCH power and when that power is put into the wrong hands (like Bush) it becomes more dangerous than helpful.

world war II ended the great depression, it created millions of new jobs. assisted the allies in their great victory over Germany and Japan. Great Britain handed over the keys to the western world. since then end of world war II, the US has been the leader in the western world, we witnessed the fall of the soviet empire, and we are the main super-power in the world (military that is).
I hope that answers your question...so yes it was definitely worth it. they also call it, the good war.

because with out us the wars ought to flow on a lot longer and lose better people. WW1 the U. S. shouldnt take all the credit. Russia ought to have probable taken Germany regardless of the indisputable fact that it ought to have took better time and lives. WW2 the U. S. can take all credit. Germany would not were defeated via in hardship-free words Russia. with out the U. S.'s help they could were waiting to take over a huge area of Europe. they could have not in any respect taken Russia out yet they could have taken many of the different international places. Plus there grow to be no way Japan ought to have surrendered to all and assorted regardless of the indisputable fact that the U. S.. they're proud people and ought to extremely lose tens of millions that surrender. yet they realized that there grow to be no thanks to win and extra and extra people ought to easily save being killed. there grow to be no protection for our Atom bomb so it grow to be both resign or lose one hundred,000 people wide-spread.
